Halim s a Franco-Algerian author, illustrator, scriptwriter, and journalist.​

Background & Career Start

After studying graphic arts and design at ESAAD, Halim moved to Canada, where he became an editorial writer and press illustrator. He has worked with various media outlets across the world: France, Canada, Chile, Brazil (L’Express, Bakchich Info, La Mèche, Ici-Mirror, O Globo, Clìnic…)

Press & Comics

Halim was a regular contributor to the comic magazine Psikopat and to the rap collective La Rumeur. He is also a member of Cartooning for Peace, and publishes drawings in the France24 TV column: “Une semaine dans le Monde”.

Notable Works

His comics career began with Arabico, awarded the Prix France Info 2010 and nominated at Angoulême. He has since collaborated with major publishers: Dargaud (The Golden House of Samarkand, co-written with Nicolas Wild, inspired by Hugo Pratt) Glénat, Le Monde Diplomatique, The Guardian His illustrated tale “L’Enfant des Autres” is part of the permanent collection at the National Museum of the History of Immigration in Paris.

Teaching & Workshops

Alongside his work as an artist, Halim teaches illustration and storytelling in art schools. He also developed a course in Critical Image Analysis: Peace and Laugh (Peace & Humor). Since 2016, he has run workshops and conferences in: Schools, Prisons, Universities, Cultural institutions in France and abroad (Casablanca, Geneva…). Peace and Laugh is a pedagogical toolbox to decode and understand today’s visual culture.

Paris 2024 & Cultural Engagement

For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Halim created illustrated audio tales with Réticence Sonore, and led numerous illustration workshops. His posters were exhibited at: The Panthéon (Paris). Sorbonne University. Arius. Public libraries and cultural venues.

Stand-Up & Conferences

Following his solo show: "The Arab Who Hides the Forest" Halim created the character Woody Halim, with whom he presents a stand-up conference: “Peace & Humor” – exploring the science of laughter and the roots of humor. Touring in 2025: Toulouse, Brussels, Geneva...
